India’s new Parliament building is inaugurated on Sunday, 28 May, 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla ji. The Parliament of India is the supreme legislative body of the Republic of India. It is a bicameral legislature composed of the president of India and two houses: the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.
Founded on 26 January 1950 the Indian Parliament has total 788 seats. 245 Members of Rajya Sabha; 543 Members of Lok Sabha forming the Houses: Council of States (Upper house); House of the People (Lower house).
The Indian Parliament is headed by President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu since 25 July 2022.
Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar is the Vice President of India & Chairman of the Rajya Sabha since 11 August 2022. Shri Om Birla, BJP is Speaker of the Lok Sabha since 19 June 2019 while Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh, JDU; is Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha since 14 September 2020
